CAES Accountability & Reporting

CAES Accountability and Reporting (A&R) provides comprehensive services in data management and reporting. A&R Staff compile information for federal, state, university, and other accountability reports, offer assistance and training for CAES databases, and support various reporting databases and processes. The department coordinates NIFA Capacity Grant reporting including Hatch, Hatch Multistate, and Smith-Lever projects, assists with CAES ListServs and Personnel Database, and provides support for data custodians. A&R Staff also create customized reports, assist in budget development and account reconciliation for the college's departments, and maintain human resources reports, facilitating informed decision-making across CAES.

Federal Reporting

  • Each year, CAES, in collaboration with FVSU's College of Agriculture, Home Economics, and Allied Programs, submits two reports to the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) based on work performed using Hatch, Evans-Allen, Smith-Lever 3(b)&(c), and 1890 Extension funds. The Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education Reform Act of 1998 (AREERA) mandates these reports to receive federal funding.

The CAES A&R Staff prepare both the Federal AREERA Accomplishment Report and the Federal AREERA Plan of Work. These reports are compiled using Capactiy Grant reporting and other sources, eliminating the need for faculty to maintain individual Plans of Work in GaCounts.

The Federal AREERA Plan of Work, submitted each April 1st, outlines research and extension plans for a rolling five-year period and is updated annually. The Federal AREERA Accomplishment Report details the previous fiscal year's activities and outcomes.

  • CAES A&R staff collaborates closely with faculty to initiate and report on projects, crucially supporting UGA in securing and distributing USDA NIFA capacity grant funds.

More information can be found on the Hatch & Multistate Projects Page.

  • The CAES A&R staff utilizes Capacity Grant reports and collaborates with CAES faculty and staff to annually submit briefs to the National Impacts Database, showcasing the outstanding achievements of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
